A carer is someone who looks after a friend or family member who cannot live independently. The person they care for might have a physical disability, learning disability, sensory impairment, poor physical or mental health, be frail, or have alcohol or substance misuse problems. Swindon Carers Centre has teams specialized in supporting parent carers (ie those looking after a disabled or ill child), and young carers (ie carers who are under 18), as well as adult carers (ie adults looking after other adults). Swindon Carers Centre is looking to appoint a trustee who could take on the role of treasurer. For this, we need someone with a recognised financial qualification, and who has strong Excel skills. The role will involve advising the trustee board with regard to the organisation’s financial situation, as well as working closely with the Finance Officer to ensure the management accounts and forecasts are a true reflection of the finances. |

Dressability |
| Dressability is one of only two independent charities in the UK which provide clothing adaptation, dressmaking and design services for people with disabilities, older people and carers. Getting dressed is something most of us never think about but if your fingers are unable to manage zips and buttons or you lack the mobility to get into and out of your clothes without difficulty, this everyday activity can be painful, slow and very frustrating. The services we provide help to make life easier by making clothes work better so our clients can maintain their independence and dignity. We are looking for people with an interest, skills or background in IT, strategic planning, financial management and marketing to join Dressability as trustees. We meet on average every 6-8 weeks usually in the early evening. Days and times are flexible to accommodate other commitments. Between meetings each trustee spend between 2 – 8 hours on relevant projects. Our office is generally open until 8.00 pm one evening a week for trustees in full-time employment to keep up-to-date with activities and keep in contact with staff and volunteers. Our office is fully accessible with its own car park.As a small organisation trustees, staff and volunteers work as a team with everyone having a role to play. This combination of vitality and diversity makes Dressability an inclusive, vibrant charity where being a trustee is both rewarding and fun. |

Tech4D |
| Trustees are needed to help run a small charity offering computer lessons and computer hire to elderly, disabled and disadvantaged people in Swindon. We need people who can bring business skills such as marketing, business plans, grant and funding application writing. We will arrange frequency of meeting etc by discussion. We have just moved to new premises which we share with two other charities and need to make a fresh start with lessons and hire, so need enthusiasm and business acumen to take us forward.Tech4D is a charity which offers basic computer training in premises in Dorcan to elderly, disabled people and people who are trying to get back to work. Computer skills are needed now in many circumstances, to maintain contact with family friends, shopping, getting back into work and training etc. Our lessons start at the very basics, we work entirely at the clients pace, usually on a one to one basis. The lessons are quite informal with tea, coffee and biscuits (and a chat) on offer. Many computer training courses seem daunting if you have never used a computer or have difficulty with a structured course and we try to offer an alternative way to learn. We also offer a computer on lease to use at home should the client require. |
