Background

Involve Swindon was launched in 2004 under the name “Swindon Employees in the Community Network” (SEitCN). Since then, we have worked with over 120 organisations from the corporate, statutory and charitable sectors and over 3500 employees have given their time and skills to the local community through us.

Each year, in May and November, we bring together up to 75 representatives of local employers, statutory bodies and voluntary groups for a networking event at the De Vere Village Shaw Ridge to build relationships, understand each others’ needs and celebrate the achievements of employee volunteers.

In 2005 we established Swindon Skills Bank  to provide opportunities for employees to develop their skills through volunteering.   Employees with specific business skills are matched with charities or schools needing their skills.  Typical projects include: writing business plans, producing promotional material, setting up websites, reviewing HR policies, advising on marketing strategy, IT systems reviews or problem solving, and designing databases.

In 2006 we setup Swindon Trustee Bank to enable employees gain experience of strategic management through serving as a local charity trustee or school governor.
