Get More Involved
If you want to get more involved, you could think about regular volunteering or becoming a trustee or governor of a local charity or school.
What is regular volunteering?
Anything from fundraising for a charity to befriending the homeless to joining your local conservation group – the range of opportunities is enormous. Our latest regular volunteering opportunities are just a small selection of what is available. To find out more about what you could do get in contact with Volunteer Centre Swindon or have a look at www.do-it.org.uk – the national volunteering website.
What do trustees and governors do?
Both sit on the board or governing body of charities and schools or colleges and provide input itno their strategic management. It’s a great way to use your exisitng skills and experience to help with the running of a charity and also provides a great insight into the strategic management of a whole organisation. Board membership usually requires a minimum one year time commitment. Boards typically meet for a couple of hours every 6-8 weeks. Have a look at our latest trustee and governor opportunities. For more about trusteeships, have a look at our Resources section.
