Nationwide volunteers branch out at Coate Water

We carried out our volunteering day on Wednesday 14th Oct 2015 at Coate Water Park. We were met by Linda, one of the rangers who was very welcoming and talked us through our activities of the day. We were tasked with clearing away large branches which had been cut down or fallen and then creating a dead hedge with them, along the perimeter of the fence which separates the woodland from the golf course. Linda provided us with hot tea and coffee on our morning break and kept us enthused through out the day. We had fantastic feedback from Linda also (see below).

Good afternoon,

Could I just say a big thank you for the fabulous work you all carried out on Wednesday.

The work you managed to do has gone a long way to creating a more pleasant area for our visitors and helped in the long term management of that area not only for ourselves but the biodiversity of the site.

The dead hedge that you all managed to create along the boundary is now a great example to show other groups following in your blazing footsteps.
