Spring clean for our gardens

Spring clean for our gardens

On Wednesday 2 April, 7 ladies from Jobcentre Plus spent the day sprucing up the gardens at 2 of our Children’s Centre,  ready for Spring planting. They spent the morning at Robert Le Kyng digging over beds which had been covered for winter, and weeding those beds where weeds had taken a hold. By 1 pm they sat down for a well earned lunch, then 4 ladies travelled over to our Salt Way centre to sort out their 3 raised beds there. In just a couple of hours, the beds looked fit for purpose again and they gave some strawberry plants room to produce delicious summer fruit.

Thanks to Corinne and her team for their excellent work. Let’s hope they didn’t suffer too many aches and pains the next day!

The DWP Team had a really good day at the Children’s Centres last week. It was well organised and we were well looked after by the staff. They gave us all a thorough health and safety briefing, ensured we had access to refreshments and toilet facilities throughout the day, and gave us clear instructions on what to do.  We were made to feel very welcome and appreciated.

It was a fun day with a sense of achievement, knowing that I have helped in improving the area so that others can benefit from it.

I think it’s a great way to team build with your colleagues. A very enjoyable day.
