Trustee for The Olive Tree Cafe & TWIGS

Do you have time to spare?  Do you have skills and experience of working in the field of mental health, or possibly skills and experience in the world of finance, management or HR and would you enjoy using those skills to benefit a brilliant local charity working to help local people with mental health difficulties?

We are looking for someone with useful skills to join the Board of Trustees to help oversee and advise on the work and activity of the Olive Tree Cafe and TWIGS.  Both projects are managed by The Olive Tree Café Limited, a local charitable company and were established to give people who experience mental health problems opportunities to regain confidence and self-esteem and learn new skills through gardening, craftwork and working in a café open to the public – taking steps towards recovery, further education or employment.

TWIGS is already a well-established service, and the Olive Tree Cafe has a growing reputation both for the quality and value of its food and drink and the informal, warm and welcoming nature of both its staff and surroundings.   Over the past three years the present members of the Board of Trustees have taken on increasing responsibilities and have identified the role described as being an important expansion of its activities.

TWIGS & The Olive Tree Café

We are based on the Cheney Manor Estate in Swindon.

The café is based in the Manor Garden Centre, is open 7 days a week and currently has 64 volunteers working there, supported by a full time, highly qualified Manager and experienced, part-time Shift Leaders.  Our volunteers have opportunities to train and qualify in a variety of skills of value in the food industry and to become valued members of a busy team.

TWIGS currently supports 88 service users who benefit from working in an oasis of calm, away from the stresses of everyday life where gardening, woodworking and craft skills can be learned in a pressure-free and supportive environment.

Flexible – meetings arranged to suit TrusteesSwindonIf this is something that you would be interested in, willing to explore and maybe consider, please make contact with either of the trustees below and we will be delighted to meet with you.  We would love to find out more about you, to tell you more about TWIGS, the cafe, their activities and successes and our plans for the future.
